● We integrate SEL’s holistic educational approach, grounded in its five core competencies, which values both academic learning and personal development, as essential for improving student well-being and school engagement.
● RULER, an evidence-based approach to SEL developed by the Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence, is used to support students’ social-emotional growth.
● In the primary and junior secondary schools, 20-minute SEL sessions are held each morning from Tuesday to Thursday to help students maintain positive
motivation and perseverance, and to develop self-awareness and self-confidence.
● A weekly SEL class using the RULER approach focuses on emotional management skills and guidance for home-school collaboration. In primary school, the five SEL dimensions are integrated into thematic inquiry units, where teachers monitor both academic progress and SEL skill development during interdisciplinary explorations. For high school students, monthly SEL workshops and lectures are conducted. Our psychology teacher provides communication, action plans, and guidance based on SEL dimensions and the developmental characteristics of adolescents.
● We believe that SEL is not limited to classroom content—it is a vital part of our school community culture. As key partners in education, both teachers and parents play an important role in developing SEL competencies. Regular professional development is offered to faculty and staff to support their ongoing growth, while parent workshops on social-emotional learning help build a collaborative and supportive learning community.
● Through our school-wide SEL environment, students show meaningful growth in understanding and managing emotions, setting and achieving positive goals, demonstrating empathy, building healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions.
